ABOUT US
Our story began in the 1960s, when a small cadet band in Old Basing quickly grew into something extraordinary. What started with village parades and carnivals soon turned into championship wins and unforgettable performances across the UK and Europe. From playing at a moving service in Bayeux War Cemetery attended by Queen Elizabeth II, to marching over Pegasus Bridge during the 60th anniversary of D-Day, and honouring the fallen at the Menin Gate in Belgium — our band built a tradition of music, pride, and community spirit that still shines today.

Today, we’re proud to carry that legacy forward as the Old Basing Royal British Legion Band. We’re a friendly, community-based band made up of musicians of all ages and abilities, united by a love of music and performance. You’ll find us at parades, local celebrations, remembrance services, and Christmas events — bringing music, energy, and tradition wherever we go.

Whether you’re an experienced player or a complete beginner, you’ll be warmly welcomed here. We provide uniforms and instruments, and our members are always on hand to help you learn and enjoy being part of the band. With regular Sunday rehearsals and a busy calendar of exciting events, there’s never been a better time to join us and be part of something truly special.
